There was a surprise result when ninth ranked BelgianBelfius Mons-Hainaut (8-7) rolled over higher ranked Dutch Leeuwarden (9-6) in Jemappes 101-72 on Friday. Union Mons dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Leeuwarden 's 34. Union Mons looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American forward Brock Cunningham (198-1998, college: Texas) who scored that evening 17 points and 8 rebounds and Icelandic swingman Styrmir Thrastarson (200-2001, college: Davidson, agency: Blacktop Management) supported him with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Robin Duncan (196-1998, college: Vermont) did not help to save the game for Leeuwarden . His fellow American import point guard Matt Frierson (188-1997, college: Citadel) added 18 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Union Mons moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Charleroi and Leuven. Loser Leeuwarden dropped to the sixth position with six games lost.
